Mayo Report for 2006-05

This installment of The Mayo Report was part of Comic Geek Speak episode #156. It covered May 2006 and can be found here.

We discussed the numbers for only about 25 minutes or so this time around.

Below are the rough notes I put together in preparation for the podcast. I've added linked to the charts for the titles mentioned. I use these notes as a guide for the podcast be we never cover all of the titles I have in the notes and we frequently discuss many other things that I don't have in my notes.

General Comments

  • On the one hand, it was an amazing month:
    • Top Comics
      • This was the 5th most dollars spent on the Top Comics since 1996-09
      • This was the most units sold for the Top Comics since 1997
    • Top Trades
      • This was the 5th most units sold for the Top Trades since 1996-09
      • 15th most dollars spent on the Top Trades since 1996-09
  • On the other hand, a lot of titles went down in sales:
    • About 144 of the top 300 comics sold less than the previous issue for the title
    • About 16 sold about the same as the previous issue
    • About 49 sold more than the previous issue
    • No previous issue was found for 91 of the top comics

    • Comic book units: 45.32% (3,434,600)
