Just curious, but does the addition of J.M. DeMatteis to the writing chores (starting with issue 6) do anything to make you think about picking it up, when he comes on? It has been years since I read anything from him, but this has my "add to order" trigger finger at the stand-by. Hopefully I can contain its excitement, because I honestly don't want to add another title.

Perhaps your insight can talk me down.

Not at all. The actual writing fundamentals were not the problem for me.

The real problem for me is that the Stranger went from being a totally mysterious figure to a having a secret identity as a dude with a wife & kid who lives in the burbs.

No writer can fix that, DC has tainted the entire character concept for me in the New52. I guess they were trying to make him relatable, they succeeded in making him toxic to me.
