Previews Spotlight #038 (Dec ->Feb): Fri Dec 3th: 5pm pac

Post by BobBretall »

The new Previews hit the stands Wed Nov 24th, so the call will be Friday Dec 3rd at 5pm Pacific / 6pm Mountain / 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern.

As always, get on Skype around the start time (or join any time after, the call can run 4 hours of rousing comics chat) and look for thejohnmayo message him to get joined into the call.

Submissions for the Previews Spotlight #038 show should be in by the end of Friday Dec 3rd.

Of course you can start sending in submissions as soon as you have them done. Sending them in early is appreciated as it give us more time to organize the clips and plan out the episode.

Remember: We encourage anyone to send in a short audio clip where they can talk about any book that's coming out in the upcoming Previews that they are really excited about. The email address to send the clips to is TheGuys@ComicBookPage.com. (Some people were only send them to either just John or just Bob and we both need to get them to prepare to recording the episode. By using TheGuys email address, the email goes to both Bob and John.)

PLEASE: Each featured item should be in a separate audio file.

We would also appreciate it if you put the page number followed by the full name of the item in the filename. If you don't know the page number, that is fine. Just leave it off. But having the full name of the item the clip is for makes it much easier for us to organize the files and prepare for recording the episode.
Tips on how to record a clip can be found here.

Call dibs on reviewing any particular comic on this thread.

Have not heard from DCBS yet. Given the holiday, we'll be lucky to have it Friday.

Since the DCBS order form isn't available yet, I've tossed together a place holder form: 2010-12-ComicBookPage.xls

Do you happen to know if they are planning on reprinting all the Hellraiser TPB's ? I have some "Garth Ennis" holes in my collection that I have been trying to fill for a while.

I haven't seen anything about the reprinting the Hellblazer Trades... to my knowledge they are still all in print.

The issue with them is there are odd issues which were written by a different author which didn't fit in with the 'run' due to royalities which is why we are seeing some multi author books coming out. (like 3 recent one with the 2 part Jason Aaron run as well as the older one which has the Neil Gaiman and Grant Morrison run.

From what it looks like I'm assuming they are just going to do different covers like they have with The Sandman and Transmetropolitan.

But with them coming close to hitting issue 300 I'm hoping they start an Absolute run for it!

Here's the quote from the DC solicitation for February.
The very first Hellblazer collection is back in a new edition that includes John Constantine’s early appearances in SWAMP THING #76-77 along with HELLBLAZER #1-9. This is the first of a series of new HELLBLAZER collections that put all his adventures in reading order, capturing Constantine at his youthful, anarchic best.
This would intimate that they are indeed looking to reprint them all.

Oh well, I guess we'll see.

Thx,

I never realized when I started collecting the Hellblazer TPB's that they were not some sort of chronological collection. I struggled to find the following from the Garth Ennis stint.

Bloodlines
Rake at The Gates Of Hell

Here is what my limited research skills found as far as collected editions:

0riginal Sins #1 to #9
The Devil You Know #10 to #13
The Fear Machine #14 to #22
The Family Man #23 to #24 and #28 to #33
Rare Cuts # 25, #26, #35, #56, #84
#27,#34, #36 to #40 Not collected.
Dangerous Habits #41 to 46
Bloodlines #49, #52 to #55 , #59 to #61
#50, #51 Not collected
Fear And Loathing #62 to 67
Tainted love #68 to 71
Damnation's Flame #72 to 77
Rakes at the Gates of Hell #78 to #83
#85 through #129 Not Collected
Son of Man #129 to 133
