I wasn't always a Star Trek fan but at some point I became one. When the Star Trek Collector Magazines started up, I decided to get just the "featured" ships of the various television shows and movies. Admittedly, what falls into that category is a little nebulous. I ended up getting a bunch of other ships as time went on.
